Emergency Lighting Testing and Inspecting

Emergency lighting and illuminated exit signage are required to provide staff or occupants with a safe illuminated escape route from a building in the case of an emergency especially when mains power is disrupted and or the presence of smoke. They are designed to minimize the risk of death or injury to persons during an emergency because of an inability to find an exit.

The need for emergency and exit lighting is defined in the Building Code of Australia (BCA) and the mandatory requirements for this system, are defined in the AS 2293 which requires the emergency lighting be periodically maintained to ensure good working order.
